XVII. Sascha Kolowrat Ride

On Saturday, June 17, 2017, the 17th annual International Sascha Kolowrat Ride was held. Sascha Kolowrat was an auto and motorcycle racer, aviator, film producer, cinematographer, director and a leading personality in Austrian cinematography.

This year’s ride was also a celebration of the 120th anniversary of the birth of Jindřich Josef Count Kolowrat– Krakowski, a progressive entrepreneur, diplomat, anti– fascist campaigner who was decorated with the 1939 Czechoslovak War Cross and the Order of T.G. Masaryk, II. Class.

This year, 95 historical vehicles and motorcycles participated in the Sascha Kolowrat ride. Participants traveled a distance of nearly one hundred kilometers around Tachov and the border areas of Germany.

At the invitation of Waldthurn representatives, who attended the Sascha Kolowrat Ride opening ceremony, participants were invited to celebrate the eight– hundredth anniversary of their city.

The oldest vehicle was a Škoda 633 of domestic production from 1933. The oldest car on the route was a Protos from 1924, whose owner undertook the trip for this event all the way from Leipzig. Among the veteran motorcycles, the Java 175 from 1933 was the oldest.
