Kolowrátek Endowment Fund Welcomed Children from the Tachov Children’s Home in Prague

As long-time sponsor of the Tachov Children’s Home, the Kolowrátek Endowment Fund this year once again provided traditional St. Nicholas Day gifts for the children. An extensive, all-day program was prepared for the large excursions on Wednesday, 6 December 2017.

In the mid-morning hours, led by the director of the Children’s Home, Zdeňek Kropáč, the children visited the successful Na Film! 2: In Motion exhibition at the Chicago Palace building. The interactive exhibition presents subjects from the history of Czech cinematography, which are interconnected by the theme of motion. The children were able to try out the basic principles and techniques of film animation, learning interesting facts about Czech film in an entertaining way.

After a joint lunch at Kolowrat Palace, the children were welcomed at the Kolowrat Theater by Mrs. JUDr. Dominika Kolowrat-Krakowská, together with JUDr. František Vyskočil, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, where the cultural program commenced, with the musical ensemble Kaštánek. The program included performances by children in traditional Chodec folk costumes, accompanied by their teachers, singing folk songs and carols.

After this, Mrs. Dominika Kolowrat-Krakowská invited the director, Kropáč, together with the children, to accept a check for 60 000 Czech Crowns. The funds will be used to pay for leisure activities for the children of the Home. The Trumpeters of the Kolowrat Forests also came to greet the children, having prepared a special, short program consisting of well-known hunting songs and fanfares. And as the grand finale, the most highly-anticipated event took place in the evening. The eagerly-awaited by the children Saint Nicholas, accompanied by an angel and devils, entered the Kolowrat Theater. He had packages with St. Nicholas gifts prepared for all of the children.

After a pleasant day, everyone departed full of Christmas spirit.
